This summer I had the privilege of working over 15 different weddings with Hevin and the Story Weddings & Events’ team. The summer was a whirlwind of hard-work, happiness, and love. Each wedding that I worked was unique and special in its own way. There was however, one wedding that stood out to me the most – Colena and Chucks’ Wedding at The Enjoy Centre on July 25th 2015.
The Enjoy Centre, which was named Venue of the Year (2015) by Blush Magazine, is located on the outskirts of St. Albert. The centre contains a number of different partners including Hole’s Greenhouse, Glasshouse Bistro, and Sandyview Farms. The couple had chosen to have both their ceremony and reception in the Mayflower Room.
The Mayflower Room is very large and open; it seats approximately six hundred people. There are windows stretching from the the floors to the top of the roof. Large and small trees and shrubs board the room, and the trimmings on the walls are light lime green. The room is absolutely beautiful, and a great location for couples who love natural light!
The ceremony décor was classic and elegant – with white chairs and a white backdrop with grey accents throughout.
The lovely flowers from Hole’s Greenhouse, were a beautiful combination of peach roses, hypericum berries, and dusty miller. The flowers were placed along the edges of the aisle and on the stage, and as centerpieces for the reception.
At the ceremony, A Musical Memory, a trio of musicians, played eloquently. Colena and Chuck recited heartfelt vows. The ceremony was lovely, touching, and I could not help but tear up at the end!
After the wedding ceremony, Colena changed into a traditional red Chinese dress. While the guests enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by the Glasshouse Bistro, Colena and Chuck intimately shared the Chinese tea ceremony with their families. I thought it was very considerate for Colena and Chuck to have a traditional Chinese tea ceremony after the wedding ceremony. It was also a great way to incorporate their heritage into the wedding festivities.
Colena and Chuck had had a delicious buffet-style dessert table that was provided by Once Upon a Cake. There was some debate on the dessert table, as Chuck is a Dentist, so he was feeling conflicted about having a lot of sweets. Colena, a Lawyer, got her final say in the end, and they had a bountiful dessert table.
My favorite part of the wedding ceremony was the Jing Ying Martial Arts’ traditional Lion Dance. When the bride and groom entered the Mayflower Room as husband and wife for the first time, two dragons and a team of drummers followed behind them. It was a surprise for all of the guests and the wedding party. Everyone loved the performance!
The whole day was a beautiful celebration of love. Thank you Colena and Chuck for allowing me to be part of it.
Congratulations, and all the best in the future!
